Abstract
This article tackles the emergence of a new epoch in the field of international law. It addresses the role of the international legal community in sustaining peace in a world beyond nuclear weapons. The article situates future legal interventions by looking to past threats to the world order—from colonialism to the World Wars and the Cold War—as well as responses to these threats—the creation of the United Nations and the evolution of the Non-Aligned Movement. As the international community navigates new challenges, including the continuing disparities between the Global North and South, the article emphasises the importance of strengthening and building institutions. At the same time, it identifies specific areas of intervention for the international legal community to promote global cooperation and justice. (Editor’s abstract.)
