Abstract
Multilateral cooperation is facing severe strain from overlapping global crises, including conflict, climate change, inequality, and rapid technological disruption. This analysis evaluates how middle powers—nations possessing diplomatic influence but lacking great-power capabilities—can drive the structural renewal of global governance systems. Using the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi and the upcoming selection of the next UN Secretary-General as core case studies, the text contrasts "authentic middle-power diplomacy" against the mere aspiration for great-power status. The author argues that middle powers must reject standard power politics and instead utilize their unique positions to build cross-cutting coalitions, protect institutional independence, and anchor global governance in practical, human-centric cooperation
