Abstract
Excerpt: "As cities worldwide work towards achieving the goals set under Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action, India plays a critical role in mitigating climate change as the seventh most affected country in terms of climate extremes. The country is a party to the Paris Agreement and Montreal Protocol, and has made significant pledges to reduce its carbon emissions at the 26th Conference of Parties. However, its position as the world’s third-highest carbon emitter and the increasing importance of cities as centres of climate action require a ground-level assessment of India’s climate mitigation policies."
