About This Journal
IJIEL is an annual, student-edited and peer-reviewed law journal that is in its 15th year of publication. Through this journal, we endeavour to encourage scholarship in the field of international economic law, especially trade and commerce relating to developing countries. In keeping with this objective, past issues of the IJIEL have featured contributions by luminaries in this field such as Raj Bhala, Yogesh Pai, Fiona Smith, Faizel Ismail, Enrico Baffi, Lotta Viikari, Michelle Sanson, Jason R. Bonin, Dr. Rafael Arcas, and Colin Picker. We have also featured forewords by distinguished scholars such as Prof. Arvind Subramaniam, Mr. Shashi Tharoor, Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati, and Prof. Stephan Hobe.
To further the dialogue on international economic law, the IJIEL Blog was conceptualized in 2019 in order to advance an interest in this field, amongst students, practitioners and academicians alike. In the past, we have seen contributions from luminaries in the field such as Prof. Ernst-Ulrich Petersmann (Emeritus Professor at the European University Institute and former legal adviser in the German Ministry of Economic Affairs, GATT and WTO) and Dr James Nedumpara (Professor and Head at Centre for Trade and Investment Law, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade). More recently, we published a special blog series in collaboration with Professor Katharina Pistor (Professor and Director of the Center on Global Legal Transformation, Columbia Law School).
IJIEL is committed to being open-access. Our journal is indexed on SCC Online, Manupatra, and HeinOnline.
We are currently in the process of indexing in a number of other databases, the list will be updated shortly.
