Abstract
On April 15, 1994, India became a party to the GATT Agreement at Marrakesh, Morocco. India is among about 117 countries which have reached an agreement on the single most comprehensive economic blueprint for international trade. The GATT Agreement signifies the conclusion of the Uruguay Round of Negotiations which commenced in 1986 in the small town of Punta del Este, Uruguay. At the end of the negotiations, a set of basic principles were formulated to govern international trade which have since taken the form of the GATT Agreement.
